The Story of SVSC-W

The Suzuki Violin School of Columbus-Worthington was founded by Kari Gunderson in 1977.  Her mother taught violin and raised her daughter to love music.  As a young child, Kari wanted more than anything to play the violin but there were no child sized violins available in those days.  In the 1950′s, her mother heard about a man in Japan by the name of Shinichi Suzuki who was teaching violin to young children using child sized violins.  There were a limited quantity of these child sized violins and they were priced dearly and difficult to obtain.   Kari’s mom searched far and wide to make  her daughter’s dream of  playing the violin come true.  At age 6, Kari was the proud owner of her first violin.  Kari has made it her life mission to pass this incredible gift on to other children. She founded the Suzuki Violin School of Columbus-Worthington in 1977 and the school continues to pass on her wonderful tradition of music and love.
