Elizabeth
Schulte has a Master of Music degree in violin performance and a Master of Arts
degree in string pedagogy from The Ohio State University, where she was a
Graduate Teaching Assistant with the Pre-College Strings Program and a member of
the graduate string quartet. Mrs.
Schulte has a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Northwestern College in
St. Paul, Minnesota, where she was concertmaster of the Chamber Orchestra, and
appeared with the orchestra several times as a soloist.
Her love for teaching developed as she coordinated a string program for
young students at the college’s Academy of Music. Prior
to moving to Columbus, Mrs. Schulte taught elementary, middle school and high
school orchestra for the Robbinsdale School District (Minneapolis, MN) for seven
years, where her orchestras received statewide recognition.
Mrs. Schulte was certified by the Minnesota State High School League as
an adjudicator for string and orchestra events.
She was a conductor with the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies Summer
Orchestra Program. Active as a violinist, she also was a member of Allegro
Sinfonia and the Resound String Quartet. While
in Columbus, she was a member of the Columbus Bach Ensemble for five years. Mrs.
Schulte is the founding conductor for the Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestras
Junior Strings, which she has directed for the past four years.
Having been on the faculty of the Suzuki Violin School of
Columbus/Worthington for five years, Mrs. Schulte has done Books 1-4 Suzuki
Teacher Training at Capital Suzuki Institute and Ithaca College and a Book 5-8
overview course with John Kendall in Washington D.C.
She is a member of the Columbus Music Teachers’ Association, a
freelance violinist in the area, a pianist at her church, and serves as a
clinician and adjudicator at schools and events in Central Ohio.
She lives in Hilliard with her husband Dave, 5-year-old Isaac and
2-year-old twins, Joseph and Rachel. She is the conductor for the Columbus Symphony Junior Strings Orchestra and on the faculty of the Suzuki Violin School of Columbus/Worthington.
