She has studied violin with the late George Hardesty and Isabel Chandler, and more recently, with Michael Davis and David Edge. She studied Music Performance at Ohio State University.

In addition to teaching privately, Sherry is a violinist with the Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra, as well as performing with numerous other orchestras and ensembles. She performs with The Amalia Consort, a local early music group, playing violin and rebec, and Strings Attached is her chamber music ensemble. She was for many years concertmaster of the Women in Music-Columbus String Sinfonia, under the direction of Deborah Price, and chair of the Young Artist Competition organized by the same group. She has served as concertmaster of the Women in Music-Columbus Symphony Orchestra.

She has volunteered her time as a musician for the MusicCare program at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Program and is an active member of the Music Ministry at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
